Strict restrictions on New Year parties in Hyd

Police commissioner AK Khan on Friday held a meeting with the owners of Hotels & Pubs and organisers of parties in Hyderabad and also issued them guidelines for celebrations on the new year eve.

"New Year parties would be allowed only till 1 am on January 1st. Consumption of drugs, obscene dances, rash driving and drunken driving will be under close surveillance of the police. The cops would be recording the New Year celebrations with around 180 cameras. The celebrations will be stopped by the police at anytime, if they find anything indecent. We are also using Audio Meters to check the noise pollution for the first time and will not allow if the sound exceeds 45 decibels. Breath Analysers will be used on Dec 31st and Jan 1st to keep an eye on drunken drivers. The limit is 30 micrograms per 100 ml of alcohol and anything more than that would be treated as Drunken Driving. Cases would be registered against them and along with fine their license will also be cancelled," said AK Khan.

"If the organisers enourage the use of drugs or fail to prevent the use of drugs, then their license would be cancelled immediately. On 31st December, All the flyovers in Hyderabad will be closed and no vehicles will be allowed on Tank Bund. The organisers should allow the passes as per the capacity and anything more than that could cause law and order problem. Fire Arms should no be allowed into the party venue and also minors shouldn't be permitted into the parties intended for couples. We would also conduct surprise visits and checks," he added.

However, AK Khan assured to the organisers that the cops wouldn't disrupt the celebrations unless if anything exceeds the limit.
